1- When did you get started with electronics?

With electronics would be way back in high school and before that when I would tinker with radios, make some simple kits, one high school course in electronics. Some electronics engineering in university.

2- Where did the name of your company come from?

Wounded Paw is the name I use for my credits when I play on a recording, the name of my small record label and now the name of the effects pedals. I play bass pretty hard and very fast picking but without huge amounts of technique. Close to 15 years ago I was playing with my old punk band The Spazmz and my wrist would be destroyed after a set so I would have to ice it after playing and ever since then I bandage it up before playing. One of my bandmates just said something like “old wounded paw over there” one night and it just stuck.

3- What’s your favorite effect made by someone else?

Tough one, I really like the Prescription Electronics Depth Charge but since I’ve started making the Attack Goat I don’t use it anymore. I also really like the Screaming Meanie by Moosapotamus, I built one to his design and it’s lots of fun, especially with an expression pedal. A little hard to use live but really crazy.

4- What’s the favorite effect you make?

That would have to be the Attack Goat.

5- What instruments do you play? Skill level at each?

I play bass mostly. I play guitar badly but not in any bands.

6-Is making effect pedals your primary gig? If not, what is?

I make effects, I’m an occasional recording engineer, live sound at local clubs, staging, possibly some more computer programming in the future.

7- Do you think about bass players before or after you prepare a circuit?

I designed the Attack Goat specifically for me to play bass through so I guess before.

8- How many pedals do you sell a month?

Including custom work I would say probably a dozen.

9- Triplet :

E-bay: Savior or Curse?
I haven’t actually sold on e-bay. It kind of annoyed me years ago when I was trying to sell release from my record label there and I haven’t spent much time on it since. I’ve had my own online shop for ages so it didn’t seem necessary.

Bassplayers: Forground or Background?
If you listen to Murdersquad, my grind/crust/metal/punk band I think the bass is pretty much in charge. I like the guitar player to go off on whatever tangent he feels like while I pretend to be bass and rhythm guitar at the same time.

Color: Chartreuse or Magenta?
umm, magenta?

10- Any cool products in the pipeline you want to share?

I’m gonna be offering the Attack Goat as an expression pedal so you can change the blend with your foot while playing. I will also be making blenders/effects loopers with the same option and probably some sort of phaser.

11- Anything else you want to add?

can’t think of anything but good luck with the site. I’ll link up to it as soon as it’s ready.
