I play this pedal through a classic mid 70's Ampeg SVT and it has a really nice push, boost, and sustain. It's great for noise, feedback, and hefty dissonant chords. The slight downside of this pedal is that is only sounds good for me with lower fuzz and high tone settings; kind of a one trick pony. But this sound is quite nice. Another consideration is that I'm running this pedal on top of an EBS ValveDrive tube preamp/overdrive pedal. That's lots of grit. You should review the EBS ValveDrive, it's may favorite bass overdrive pedal ever. It's not a fuzz pedal, but it's a great sounding bass overdrive.

I own one of these bad boys, and IMO it sounds better through a DI or some sort of tube emulator. My guess is because since MXR says they based it off of a "classic 70's tube circuit", and all the amps in the 70's were tube amps...you get the idea. It sounded fine just straight, but the DI really brings out the fuzz.

Soon, it's next up. I've been away on vacation and now that I'm back I actually killed my main computer. It will be a few more days before it's back from warranty repair. I am apparently in the middle of a computer killing crisis.
