Construction and cosmetic concerns:
This pedal looks great visually. The solid metal knobs and tube protector give it look that is both unique and attractive. Everyone who has seen it in person is drawn right towards it. Even when I had about twenty pedals on my desk people would ask about that one first. If you are looking for a conversation piece, I’ve seldom seen a better one in pedal form. There is a beast to this beauty as well, when the case is opened it was coated in a swath of sticky black goo. This is not the normal goo that I’ve seen used in many other pedals, but a more loose and umm.. oozing sort. It seems that when the pedal heats up, the goo gets soft and starts to flow again… EWWW. Good thing there isn’t a reason to open the back (since it will only run on the power supply). The soldering on the board is pretty sloppy, but everything functions and there doesn’t appear to be any cold joints or more insidious problems. During my testing the sound cut out at one point, and it turned out the tube had come a little loose. Not massively confidence inspiring for a pedal in this price range.
