Construction and cosmetic concerns:
The enclosure is a deep lush purple color and the paint seems very resistant to chipping (oops) if a bit prone to attracting dust and fingerprints. Everything looks and feels very solid. The resistance on the ‘Range’ switch might be a little too solid as it requires a firm grip to move it from on setting to the next. The screening of the pedal is very nice and the top mounted jacks for everything are well spaced and easy to get to. The usual four screw access plate is employed to replace the battery. Inside the case there is an onboard trim to adjust the overall output level of the filter. I’m happy this is an option, but frankly I would prefer that this was a knob on the outside of the filter. If you setting the filter to your favorite setting and then tweaking this trimmer as desired and never touching it again, great. Otherwise as you explore the wide range of this filter you will find yourself struggling with various situations of increased and reduced volumes. V2… Move the volume knob outside…. and give me a free one for suggesting it! The circuit has been unceremoniously slathered in goop. This may help the designer protect their designs, but it sure looks like hell. I’ve seen some more graceful solutions to the goop, but I’m sure it must be cheap and easy. Pedal holds up to the shake test with just a ‘little wiggle’ going on inside, but nothing rattling wholesale. The key input seems like a nice touch, but I’ve not as of yet had the chance to play with it.
