Notes:

Awesome looking acid etched casing. Mine was done when he was having trouble with the originally selected named (Lush). It’s Japanese for “Between the devil and the deep blue sea”. High build quality. Battery is useless (it eats them).

Probably not dynamic enough for a singular chorus and probably not worthwhile on bass if you aren’t going to be using the stereo capabilities. The rich fullness really rises up on bass when in stereo mode, almost like an alternate reality reverb (if that makes any sense at all).

More headroom than the DC-2, doesn’t get weird with big low notes, and you can hit with a distortion or fuzz into it.

Show and Tell – Pefftronics SB101 Super Rand-O-Matic on Bass

Stashed under: Show and Tell - Non-Fuzz — grygrx @ 9:24 am

This is one of those pedals I read about awhile back and have had sitting on the end of an ebay search for awhile. One came up and it looked to be in pristine condition with all of the documentation and I just couldn’t resist. Since there is very little floating around I figured I would scan all the documentation and do a few samples and present it here!

I present… the Pefftronics SB101 Super Rand-O-Matic

Spanky!: Year of the Rat Video

I neglected to add this to the website, it’s been up on youtube for a little bit.

Fuzz Review: Zvex Woolly Mammoth

front Manufacturer: Zvex
Model: Wooly Mammoth
MSRP/Paid: $359/$250
New/Used/Loan: Used
Battery: Yes
Power Supply: Yes
Size: 4.75″W x 2.5″D x 2″H (Aprox including Jacks and knobs)
Available from: Dealers

From the maker:

Description:
Sensitive and touchy, This bass fuzz has tremendous bottom end and a beautiful harmonic structure that sounds blistering with a guitar too..

The harmonic structure can be radically altered using the “PINCH” knob. It adjusts the pulse width of the waveform.

In the leftmost position, the waveshape is quite symmetrical which produces a smooth creamy sound. Turning it up slightly introduces lovely intermodulation distortion. Turning it clockwise narrows the waveshape into asymmetrical pulses, making the tone reedier and brassier. This also introduces an unusually smooth ‘gating’ action, which gives you an absolutely eerie silence between notes.

At most settings you will notice that low frequency pressure is preserved. This circuit has a frequency response that continues several octaves below audibility. The subs will knock everything off of your amps, so put the the bottles on the floor. No kidding.

The “WOOL” knob adjusts the amount of fur around the note. The “EQ” knob tilts the spectral response, turning to the left adds lows and softens the highs. Turning to the right adds highs, then mids, and finally reduces lows. the “OUT” knob Is designed for smooth repeatable level settings

In our continuing effort to be friendly towards the earth, the universe and it’s inhabitants; no animals were harmed during the making of this pedal.

Oh, and the circuit (designed by Chuck Zwicky) draws less than one-half of a milliampere (0.0004 amps, typical). That is less than one-hundredth the current consumption of most ‘commercial’ pedals, giving this pedal about as high a battery life as you can find anywhere. In fact, if you use an alkaline battery and always unplug the input cord between sessions, you may never have to change it at all!

Wandering: G-Lab Bass Wowee-Wah

Stashed under: Gear Head Surfing — grygrx @ 7:40 pm

Bass Wowee-Wah

Website:G-lab Bass Wowee Wah

BWW-1 with four tone parameters switches enables you to match the tone to your needs. RANGE switch allows you to change the range of resonance frequencies. In HI position it is possible to use wah-wah effect without the influence on low-frequency harmonic sound. In turn LOW position enables higher influence on the low frequencies, what gives new possibilities of creating the tone. Q FACTOR switch let you adjust the deepness of the effect, especially the low part of the regulation band. TREBLE switch can boosts the volume of mid/high frequencies, what let you adjust the tone to higher part of resonance frequencies. The VOLUME switch adjust the level of output signal.

BASS WOWEE-WAH features two switching modes: traditional (with the switch located in front of the pedal) and automatic mode (with the sensor of placing the leg on the pedal). Due to that, the switching OFF and ON of the wah-wah is far more faster and more comfortable what gives new creative capabilities. Photo element instead of potentiometer makes the using of wah-wah more easy and enlarges the effect reliability.

Switches’ functions

BATT BATTERY power switch, OFF position – switch off the battery supply (to avoid having to unplug your cable from the Jack IN connector).
RANGE Resonance frequencies range switch causes moving the whole resonance frequencies range:
LOW position – wah-wah enables higher influence on the low (bass guitar) frequencies.
TREBLE In HI position it boosts mid/high frequencies what makes the wah-wah effect deeper.
Q FACTOR Quality factor of the resonance circuit switch,
HIGH position – increases resonance signal level especially of low frequencies what intensifies the wah-wah effect.
VOLUME Volume of the effect signal,
HIGH position – increases the signal by 3,5dB.
ON/OFF MODE Switching mode switch:
SWITCH position- classic mode by using of the switch located in front of the pedal,
TOUCH position – Pressure activated mode by placing and releasing the foot from the wah-wah pedal.
