Fuzz Review: Zvex Woolly Mammoth

                               Initial thoughts:

This is not a new fuzz experience for me. I think this is the third time I’ve owned a Woolly Mammoth. It’s something I’ve always liked, but felt was a little bit of a one trick pony. Sure, it’s a pretty damn good trick, but not something that is going to fit into many styles of music. Add the limitations it has with active basses and you are looking at a pedal that has a pretty specific niche. Those things aside, there are some great sounds to explore and it seemed fitting that I acquire another one for doing a review here on bassfuzz.

  1. Thanks for this unbiased review.

It gets frustrating viewing the forums to see this pedal praised and bashed like no other, so again, thanks for the honest look.

O as an FYI, I have one marked 04 and chipping of paint is not an issue.

  2. The paint date on mine is 11/99 and a build date of 1/26/00. No paint chipping although I’ve only used it a handful of times since I got it in 2000.
