Rambling… What’s Next

Stashed under: Mad Rambling — grygrx @ 1:51 pm

I’ve got a couple of things in the immediate works including: EHX – Russian Big Muff (current), Wounded Paw – Battering Ram, a revisit to a new spec Attack Goat, and an ElectroniX FACEDrive. After that I’ve got a few pedals still lingering in need of a review. As I’m dead broke, I need to actually get to the reviewing of some of them, decide what I’m keeping and move the rest on. I’ve added the bulk of those pedals I’ve got here already to the most current poll, please pick what you would like to see first!

MessDrive Bass Fuzz Effects Pedal
MessDrive is designed for bass guitars, it is not just another fuzz pedal modified to be used with a bass. A well-known problem about those, when the pedal is engaged, the sound becomes thinner as it is coming from a broken guitar amp. Our main goal was to prevent this and make the bass sound like how it should: A bass fuzz pedal that doesn’t kill the low end, in fact adds fat bottoms.

Thanks to the input transformer, it works equally well with both active and passive instruments. The sound is very organic, yet synth-ish at the same time. It takes the character of the bass used and “fuzzyfies” it. That means, it doesn’t sound the same regardless of the bass used, in fact, let the qualities of the particular bass shines through.

Heavy setting is more of a medium gain fuzz, while Mild setting sounds more tamed with the hints of gated fuzz, varrying by the strength of the input signal.

Features:

  • Bass Fuzz effects pedal
  • Volume and tone controls along with the Heavy/Mild switch
  • Input transformer allows it to be compatible with both active and passive basses
  • Takes a 9V Battery (included) or a 9Vdc stompbox power supply
  • Reliable and sturdy full metal construction finished with glossy red paint
  • Heavy duty true bypass switch
  • Ultra bright status led
  • 1/4″ female output, 1/4″ female input jack (Input jack acts as a on-off switch)

Ramble: Dallas Guitar Festival

Stashed under: Mad Rambling — grygrx @ 9:39 am

I’m here in Dallas after attending the Guitar Festival yesterday. I had a great time and met some interesting folk, including some people I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with over the internet over the years. I’ll have to make it a habit of attending more events, despite my general fear of the public!

I made a couple of trades while I was there, that made me feel better about my current pedal holdings (including something you will see reviewed here later… I’ll post about it when it actually arrives).

I’ll be headed home tomorrow, and hopefully I’ll get rolling on the reviews. I’ve still got about 12 or 14 pedals sitting around that I need to get done. Time to buckle down and catch up. I’m going to try to refrain from buying anything until I’m close to the bottom of the pile.

Next up will be the ElectroniX – Messdrive

It’s come to the forefront of my mind that I’m doing the site a disservice by not including an extended range bass (at least a 5 string) as part of my samples and videos. I’ll be looking to correct that after I recover from my Dallas trip. If there is a small (large?) builder that is looking for some exposure/advertising by adding your 5/6 string bass to the default line-up drop me a line @ admin@bassfuzz.com. I can provide analytics and general data about unique hits and whatnot.
