Fuzz Review: Chunk Systems Brown Dog Gated Bass Fuzz
Initial thoughts:
This is another one of those pedals I’ve been meaning to try for years, but couldn’t motivate to pay full price for. It finally appeared within my grasp as a deal on the talkbass forum popped up for a used one. I’ve been sitting on the pedal over a month now because I find myself a tad conflicted about it. It initially seemed an obvious pedal to directly compare against the Zvex Woolly Mammoth as they both share a gated design and price range, but there are a couple of significant difference in the designs that make them worlds apart . This is a unique pedal, and shares little with WM other than the gate knob.

very informative. i knew very little on this box before this review. i thought the Brown Dog looked a bit bulky and the color scheme did not catch eye. Shows me how much emphasis i place on design appearance. :) The fuzz possibilities sound fantastic, and you show the construction to be functional. It is that price tag that however, that will keep this great fuzz from joining my ranks any time soon.
