Review Changes: Construction

Stashed under: Mad Rambling — grygrx @ 7:43 am

I’m going to ditch the construction ’score’ from my reviews (and review chart). After considering this for awhile, I don’t think I’m actually fair/qualified to score construction. The differences between mass produced pedals and hand-wired point to point construction is really a side conversation. I have my opinions on some of these things, but for the most part they are not well considered opinions because I have no background in engineering and are based mostly on what I find aesthetically pleasing.

I will continue to have a construction & cosmetics section in the review where I will voice my opinion on these topics, I’m just not going grace my opinion with a ’score’.

I’ll actually be removing it from historical reviews as well as time permits.

Inventory Update: April 2009

Inventory April 2009

Here are the things I’ve got around that I’ve yet to do a review or show & tell on. Some of it is the beginning of a project to include some more ‘readily available’ pedals into my review cycle. Since I’ve started this website I’ve focused a lot on high-end gear, because that’s where I was on my personal entertainment. That said, it seems appropriate to bring in (and in some cases revisit) some more economy and mass produced pedals as points of comparison.

The mid-fi pitch pirate will be a show and tell. The rest are all fuzz and/or dirt pedals that should see full reviews. Lastly there are a couple of D*A*M pedals that I may never address with reviews because I’m a little unsure of my bias there now.

Updates & Fixes & News

Next up on the review list is a dirt pedal (dirty boost?) the Tonefactor – Cream Pie Deluxe. This is one of those pedals that have been a general point of small run/ hard to get lust for awhile now on the talkbass forums and I was able to pick up at a reasonable price. It should hit the airwaves this week.

I’ve picked up a ton of stuff recently and haven’t made the time to do an inventory update. I’ll remedy that tonight with some pictures of things that I have here waiting to go under the knife.

I’ll be attending the upcoming Dallas International Guitar Festival (most likely on Sat. the 18th). If you are planning on going feel free to drop me a note and maybe we can chat, or have a drink.

One website fix to report. It was pointed out to me that while the new polls were working out fine, the polls archive was broke ass broke. I have now bothered to read the directions and it should be functioning as intended. You can click on the link below the current poll labeled ‘poll archives’.

Wandering: Used TLF for Sale on Talkbass

Stashed under: Gear Head Surfing — grygrx @ 6:44 am

Wandering the interwebs as I do… things pop up. Anyway, one of our limited Tentacle Love Super Fuzz pedals is looking for a new home (it was clearly too awesome for the first owner!). Anyway, I’m not associated with the sale, but figured I’d point it out if anyone was looking.
